WHO WE ARE

Wortley Pride is a family-focused organisation comprising a volunteer network with the intention of uplifting, educating, empowering and providing avenues to advocacy and support for the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Contained in this mandate is the dedication to offering family-focused, inclusive and sober-conscious events with safety and accessibility at the forefront. These events include a roster of free, or price-conscious annual and re-occurring events, exclusive of an all-day festival that occurs once a year held in the beautiful heart of London, Ontario, Wortley Village.

These events aim to connect the community through contributions to the localized economy, by offering platforms to 2SLGBTQIA+ artists and creatives and fostering a safe environment for networking, collaboration and understanding. Through reoccurring events such as markets, dances, open stages, and events which highlight and empower Black and Indigenous and marginalized artists, Wortley Pride is dedicated to bringing the community together in the effort of understanding the need to empower, uplift and amplify marginalized voices of all ages.

Wortley Pride is dedicated to supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ artists and creatives through offering them paid opportunities to showcase their talent, with a socially equitable emphasis on the visibility of Black, Indigenous and Queer performers. Wortley Pride believes in the fair and equitable treatment and payment for all artists and makes an effort to ensure all creatives are offered payment for their services. We value artistic autonomy and all artists retain their ideas and intellectual capital.

Wortley Pride understands the importance of accountability and transparency, offering the public access to bylaws and prioritizing continuous learning in order to better understand the community more. Taking community input into consideration is an important way to guide how services are offered, and provides necessary steps towards being able to provide ethically responsible events, resources and exists on a platform of service to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Wortley Pride prioritizes diversity in its board members, in its volunteer efforts, and in its talent, ensuring an equitable input with the diverse needs of the community in mind. Wortley Pride is not a political organisation, and focuses primarily on the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community existing in London and general area while employing the talents of artists in and around Ontario, with emphasis on Canadian talent.

Wortley Pride maintains its relationship with the community through partnerships with local businesses and organisations, collaboration with members and a continuous effort towards outreach, support and advocacy within the capacity of the network it serves.

Through connecting community resources to those who need it most, and providing safe spaces for networking, connection, collaboration and shared experiences, we are committed to fostering environments which include everyone in learning, understanding, growing, sharing and celebrating the talents and stories of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals all year round.
